Plymouth: GTX
for sale
Price: US $5,000.00
Price: US $5,000.00
After much procrastination
I have decided it is time to part with one of my most prized processions.
This 1971
Plymouth GTX has had a complete rotisserie high end show quality no expense
spared restoration.
All of the
work was done by professionals in the field, over 1300 labour hours and the
cost of the build exceeded $140, 000.00.
It has its
original number matching engine stamped with the Iron Cross.
Numbers
matching transmission original 3.23-1 sure grip differential and factory front
disc brakes.
Originally a
single 4bbl now sporting 6 bbl.
The car, built
by Investment Vehicle Restorations was the feature build on the television show
Street Sport Television
in 2010 and
has driven less than ten miles since being restored.
This car is
wicked fast.
It has
always won its class as well as best restored and people’s choice and Kid’s
choice at the car shows it has attended.
It has won
many paint awards, engine awards, underbody awards and interior awards.
Since the
car has not been driven on the street the buyer will be able to show it with as
much pride as I have should they choose.
CONDITION
As you can
see from the pictures every part of this car has been gone through.
The engine
and transmission have been fully re-built, the block and heads were sent to
Keith Black Performance Centre for machining at a cost of $6, 500.00 in the
early 1980s and the car sat in storage since then, only driven a couple
thousand miles until I bought it in 2009.
BODY
All new AMD
sheet metal was used in the reconstruction where ever possible.
Rust free
used sheet metal was used where new AMD sheet metal was not available.
The floors, inner and outer rockers were not repaired but replaced completely and all sheet
metal was plug welded in the proper manor.
Full AMD wheel
tubs, trunk floor extensions and quarter panels were replaced as shown in the
pictures.
All of the
structure was sandblasted and wherever possible epoxy primer was sprayed on the
inner structure before the outer panels went on.
PAINT
After the priming
and blocking was completed the inside portions of the body panels were epoxy
primed, seam sealed and painted base clear.
The body was
moved into the booth mounted on to the rotisserie and all of the remaining bare
metal surfaces were epoxy primed and seam sealed where required.
The under
body, engine bay and inside the trunk compartment were painted base clear on
the rotisserie.
The outer
body and body panels were painted base clear then wet sanded and re-cleared
before a five step wet sand and five stage polish was done.
SUSPENSION
AND BRAKES
All new ball
joints, tie rod ends, pittman arm, idler arm and steering box were replaced.
Brake shoes, pads, rear drums and all four wheel cylinders were replaced with new.
All other suspension
and brake component parts were sandblasted and epoxy primed.
The
differential front K member and closeout panels were painted base clear black
and the rest of the suspension and brake parts were painted to mimic cadmium
plating cast or other bare metal colours.
None of these
parts should ever start to rust.
ELECTRICAL
All of the
gauges were tested and repaired/replaced as needed.
All wiring
harnesses were replaced with new from Year One.
INTERIOR
Legendary
Interiors supplied the seats interior, trim panels, dash pad, carpets, headliner and vinyl top.
The plastic
parts were repaired where needed and dyed orange.

PAST
HISTORY
The car was
sold near Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.
It was hit
on the left side with less than 20, 000 miles on it in the mid- seventies.
The car had
three more owners who used it regularly until the early eighties.
The next
owner was going to drag race the car so he had the engine and transmission
built, ran out of money and the car sat at the body shop for several years, then when the shop owner passed away the car was bought by a person we know.
He drove it from
there to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where a friend of mine bought it.
My friend
never drove it so it sat in a storage compound for seventeen years before he
sold it to me in 2009.
