Beautiful, classic air cooled 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet in rare color combination with less wear and tear than you would expect at this age and mileage. Recently serviced, this car has been well maintained and is mechanically strong. New cabriolet top! Leather seats are in great condition with no rips or tears. New tires 2 years ago with less than 6k miles on them. A/C recently converted to R134a. Don't be afraid of the miles as these 3.2L engines have a reputation for being bulletproof and despite what the odometer reads it looks and runs like a car with half the mileage and gets compliments everywhere I go. The color combination of Dark Blue paint with a Navy Blue top over Cashmere Beige leather interior with Marine Blue trim is classy and timeless. 1989 was the last of the original 911 series and is widely regarded as the best and most desirable year to own with the updated G50 transmission. Dash is cracked and there are a few rock chips on the front as you would expect on any car that is driven regularly.
Mechanical:
Car has approximately 169, 250 miles on it.The original 3.2L engine pulls hard and the G50 transmission shifts very well through all gears.Like any air cooled 911 it uses a bit of oil, well within factory specs as defined in the owner's manual.Brakes strong and straight. There were no records available when I purchased this car so I have caught up on all recommended maintenance during my ownership. Major services including valve adjustment, spark plugs, transmission fluid, brake fluid, fuel filter, air filter and belts have all been done within the last 6k miles along with regular oil changes and other services as needed. All work has been done at a well-respected Denver shop and documentation is available.Exterior:
Paint color is Dunkleblau on the options tag (code L347). The car appears to have been re-painted in the original color prior to my ownership. It has some small rock chips on the front but overall it cleans up very nicely.New navy blue cabriolet top. I had the entire top, rear window and headliner professionally replaced in 10/2013. Top is electric and goes up and down with no problems. Rear window is clear.New Bridgestone tires put on in 11/2012, less than 6k miles ago. Original polished (not chrome) 16 Fuch wheels in great condition with no curb rash.Interior:
Cashmere Beige leather seats w/ Marine Blue leatherette trim (code LH).Electric seats are in very good condition with no noticable wear on the bolsters (front seats were likely recovered at some point)Steering wheel upgraded to very nice leather 930S wheel with color Porsche crest.Carpet shows some age related wear but is complete and clean.Dash has cracks in it which is very common in this vintage. Dash can be removed without having to remove the windshield and I can provide contact information for a shop that will refurbish a Porsche dash for about $600.New Alpine stereo, amplifier and speakers professionally installed 12/2013. Includes Bluetooth phone/audio and usb connections. Speakers are all in the stock locations and music sounds really good and clear while not going overboard.A/C system retrofitted to R134a in 6/2013, making it much more pleasant to drive in the summer heat! It is never going to get as cold as a modern car, but it works well and made it possible to drive the car comfortably throughout the summer.Overall this car is a great 10 footer with shiny paint, original polished Fuchs and a new top that runs and drives as a Porsche should. I get thumbs up and nice car comments every time I drive it and it is so reliable I would not hesitate to hop in and drive it anywhere. Everything is stock except for the new stereo, upgraded steering wheel and rear seatbelts (replaced because my kids wanted to ride in the back and I didn't trust the original 26 year old retractors). Upon close inspection you can somewhat see its age but this car is a driver, not a museum piece. These classic 911's are now 26+ years old and it's getting harder to find something so original that hasn't been modified in some way.
I am a PCA member and I have enjoyed this car for nearly 3 years. I would love for this car to go to a fellow enthusiast who will enjoy it as much as I have. Because the miles are high this is a great opportunity for you to get into a classic Porsche at a reasonable price. In my ownership this car has always been garaged and never been smoked or eaten in. Original spare tire as well as a non-original toolkit and compressor included. Clean Carfax and clear title in hand. Buyers are welcome to view the car in person in Denver, Colorado and I can help arrange a PPI at buyers expense.
