Price: US $4,900.00

Description:

A mostly restored 1958 Renault 4cv. All original wheels including a spare. Manual transmission (3 on the tree).
Recently repainted, and seats are re-upholstered. Under-carriage is as clean as the body. No rust on floor boards or body. No rust on frame. Rear bumper is showing very minor signs of rust. Missing small trim pieces like rear hatch latch. Front latch may need an adjustment. Motor is blown but is original. Everything under the hood is mostly new or refurbished. Will need a new motor to drive.
**Please forgive the tape on the body. It was just leaving my mechanics shop in the pictures and I did not want anything popping open during transport.**
The vehicle was a barn find in the early 90's that was mostly intact with rust and not running.
In the last 20 years close to $15, 000 in documented maintenance and restoration has been performed. I will have supporting documents available for you at time of pick up.
Vehicle was very well maintained over the last 10 years and was slowly being restored when the motor blew in the last twelve months. Top end (head) Is still in very good shape. Block itself has a baseball size hole in it. This was the original motor.
Instead of sourcing a new motor and selling for over $10k I decided I don't know enough about the French 4cv. I do know the Renault 4cv will also take the motor from a first generation Dauphine without having to change the transmission.

More history about the 4cv:
The
Renault 4CV
(French: quatre chevaux [kat ʃəvo]) is a rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive, 4-door economy subcompact car manufactured and marketed by the French manufacturer Renault from August 1947 through July 1961.[1] As the first French car to sell over a million units, the 4CV was superseded by the Dauphine.
The 4CV was of monocoque construction, [1] 3.6 m (11 ft 10 in) in length with front suicide doors[4] and using Renault's Ventoux engine in a rear-engine, rear-wheel drive layout.
CV is the abbreviation of cheval-vapeur, the French equivalent to horsepower as a unit of power. The name 4CV refers to the car's tax horsepower.
