Up for auction is my 1974 Triumph TR6 convertible with factory overdrive transmission and 49, XXX original miles. A well sorted beautiful example with many tasteful upgrades to enhance the British Roadster experience.
Condition of Mechanicals:
This TR6 is in excellent mechanical condition and I would trust driving it anywhere. It starts, runs, idles and accelerates smoothly without issues. No funny noises or vibrations from the engine; VERY smooth running. Oil pressure is excellent, no smoke when driving and no dripping oil leaks on the garage floor. No grinding when up or down shifting and the overdrive engages/disengages when activated. It steers and tracks straight driving at speed with no unusual vibrations. It handles very nicely and feels tight.
In the past 12 months I have installed new tires, replaced the transmission fluid, overhauled the fuel pump, replaced all rubber fuel lines and replaced the radiator hoses. Within the past 3 years the battery was replaced, clutch was replaced, brakes were replaced, engine cylinder head was rebuilt with new hardened valve seats, the carburetors were rebuilt, alloy valve cover and cylinder head oil feed line were installed, exhaust header installed, stainless pipes back to the muffler, new muffler, electronic ignition installed, ignition coil, cap, rotor, plugs and ignition wires and spin on oil filter adaptor.
Condition of Body and Chassis:
The body has never been rusted, never crashed, is super straight and has excellent panel gaps. The doors, hood and trunk all open and close smoothly. The body has been repainted once in it's original color several years ago. The entire care was repainted including all exterior surfaces, trunk, engine compartment and doors jams. The paint is in very good condition, is very shiny, no dry spots and no runs/sags. There are no major scratches but you can see very small marks when you are very close to the paint. There are a few chips that have been touched up over the years but nothing that stands out. There is one dime sized ding forward of the radio antenna on the front driver's fender (see picture). The chrome is all original and in very good condition with very good shine and no dings or bends. Overall, the paint and chrome show very nicely and can be brought to local shows proudly.
The frame is super straight and solid with no damage. The rear trailing arms are rock solid. The differential mounting pins have been professionally boxed in (don't even think about buying a TR6 without this) and new differential bushings installed last year. I was told by the previous owner that the front bushings, tie rods and ball joints were replaced several years ago. Moss Motors adjustable trailing arm brackets have been installed along with a rear sway bar.
Condition of Interior, Top:
The seats, carpets and side panels are all original. The seats are in excellent condition with no tears, rips, or unstitching. Seat cushions are still firm and comfortable. The carpets are in excellent original condition. High density sound deadener has been installed under the carpets. The side panels are all in excellent condition except for the driver's side door panel which has a small tear near the window crank from someone's ring (see picture). The black convertible top was replaced at the same time as the paint work. Rear window is clear and in very good condition. Two small dime size puncture holes at the outer corners of the top which have been patched from the inside. -This was caused by someone lowering the top the wrong way and getting the material caught in the metal frame. Rear boot cover in excellent condition. The wood dash is in very good original condition with minor cracking of clear coat. All gauges work properly. Wood steering wheel installed with new mounting hub. Electrically everything works but the seat belt buzzer/dummy light which was disconnected when I replaced the seat belts. Original period AM/FM tuner is functional. Small speakers are mounted in the back seat area. A Moss Motors emergency hood release lever was installed last year.
Previously a roll bar was installed in the car. It's included with the sale of the car if interested. -I will secure it back in place for shipping if wanted. Also included is a black tonuue cover. The material and zipper are in excellent condition but a few of the snaps will need to be replaced.
