Up for sale is a fully restored, Mimosa Yellow / Black, 1974 Triumph TR-6 that was garaged kept since new and has no rust. This is not your typical Triumph, restored to 40+ year old specifications. Lots of time and money have been invested in modernizing and improving the TR for the shear driving enjoyment on modern roads.This Triumph has been groomed to level one show car condition, with a sharp eye on performance, correctness, cleanliness, reliability, modern drivability and the perfection of material finishes.
Starting from an excellent condition driver with a recently rebuilt drivetrain, the car received a very nice restoration and has 3200 miles since completion. All the parts on the car are ether new, rebuilt or restored to very high standards of quality. All the cars surfaces are extremely clean and free of dirt, dust and grime. This special TR-6 embodies all of the most desired features, while still maintaining the correct profile and appearance. It has been in a continuing state of restoration, upgrades and refinements since its first stage of its restoration in 2004 by its previous enthusiast owners. On 10-20-2015 it received its final crowning touch, a beautifully executed show quality, PPG, base coat, clear coat, paint job, performed by the Action Collison Center in Little Elm, TX.
The high quality paint job is flawless, providing a mirror like reflections at every angle. The paints surface quality also extends to the door jams, trunk, engine compartment and underside of the car. The cars door tag show it was originally painted red from the factory. I just installed a pair of new TR-6 Union Jack stickers on the rear. I also added a new pair of small enamel Union Jacks and new metal Leyland emblems on the front fenders. I also have a reproduction 1974 emissions engine sticker that goes on the drivers side outer wheel well that needs to be installed. I also have a set of like new Plexiglas wind deflector wings that clip to the windshield pillars, not seen in photos in the photos that come with the car.
The Triumphs drivetrain is all numbers matching and original to the car and was recently rebuilt and has just a little over 3, 000 miles since completion. The transmission shifts flawlessly, giving you perfect shifts every time. The engine has a very nice K&N type air cleaners and polished aluminum finned valve cover. It also has a modern spin off oil filter conversion that uses the most common Chevy filter available. The cars smog ridden, Zenith carburetors / smog pump, were removed and replaced with a rebuilt pre-emissions SU HS6 carburetors, which are more efferent and reliable than the originals. The TR-6 is also running the Protronics, electronic ignition system, hidden in the original distributor. I just replaced the plugs wires, spark plugs, cap and rotor. The car received a new Performance Free-Flow Duel Exhaust System by Monza with beautiful chrome tips that has a intoxicating, baritone sound. The engines compartment has a nice show quality appearance with all new the and restored parts. I just changed the oil and filter and the car has no oil leaks, 65+ pounds of oil presser. The 2.5 liter Six cylinder engine, starts easily and the engine has a beautiful staccato sound at idle.
The TR6 IRS system makes the car handle like it is on rails. The cars steering, suspension shocks, brakes, all feels great and perform well in all conditions, like fast corners and extreme and highway speeds. When driving briskly you get very positive feed back to the steering wheel with no unwanted vibrations. The front disk brakes stop the car fast and straight with good control in emergency braking until controlled lockup. The Triumph suspension sports new rubber bushings, new Suplex heavy duty front springs, new front Spax shocks and new Koni's shocks in the rear. This TR also has new front rotors, new brake master cylinder, new front brake slave cylinders and new brake pads and brake lines on all 4 wheels. The TR6 has a good jack, small tool kit, nice unused Goodyear Red Line spare tire and new Bridgestone 205-65-15 Petenza tires on new Mini-Lite aluminum wheels.
The interior is like new and has it just received a custom made, Burled Ash dash panel that was stained to match the cars yellow paint. The cars interior is well insulated, it has Dyno-Mat on the floor, tunnel and firewall, with factory insulation on top. The TR-6's wood, leather, vinyl, cloth, carpet, chrome, steel, aluminum, glass, plastic, rubber and painted finishes are all near flawless and look new. The interior dash pads are perfect with no cracks, nice black seats, black door cards, black carpet, black rubber Triumph logo trunk mat, black convertible top, black half Tonneau cover, quality custom car cover is also included and are all are in like new condition.
All the cars electrical, gauges, lights, switches, heater fan, wipers, horn, turn signals, flashers are in good working order, it will pass a safety inspection. The head lights shine very bright with its new 55 AMP Bosch alternator and new Walmart battery. The TR-6 has a nice sounding Pioneer sound system with remote and 6x9's in the rear in small boxes that can get loud and sound great.
This TR6 is near flawless, very bright, shinny and flashy, it will win top honors at local car shows and gets attention where ever it goes. Their are very few affordable British cars that give you the raw emotions, sites, sounds smells and performance that the TR6 emits and this one has it on steroids.The car comes with two sets of keys, several manuals, some records, receipts and a box of spares, both new and used parts.
