Offered for sale is a very original 1974 MGB Roadster in excellent overall condition. I am selling this MGB for a dear friend who, for medical reasons, is no longer able to enjoy this classic vehicle. I am also the owner of a 1974 MGB Roadster so hopefully I can give you a comprehensive description of the vehicle and answer any questions you might have.
This car spent most of its life in Arizona and was brought to Texas about 8 years ago. The only significant rust I was able to find was in the area of the floor pan in front of the driver's seat. This section has been professionally replaced, welded, sealed, and painted with weatherproof paint. There are some small areas of rust along the bottom of the doors.
Paint is original and in good condition but there are some chips in the paint. There are no dents in the bodywork
Tires are new Goodyear Integrity P195/75 R14's. Brakes and battery are new
Chrome is excellent except one chrome strip has a small dent
Top is not the original one but is is good condition with a few small tears. Other than two tears in the passenger seat base the interior is in excellent shape. Currently missing a radio and the interior light which mounts directly above the radio. There are four installed speakers and also a Base Master installed in the trunk.
I just replaced the fuel sending unit
Windshield is excellent with no cracks or hazing. Small repair in the dash
The speedometer reads 88008 miles but has stopped working. I checked the speedo drive unit, the cable, and the gauge. All are in working order. The problem appears to be the internal drive gear inside the transmission. Apparently, this is a common MG problem and repair can be expensive. GPS speedometers are available from Speed Hut which can be customized to look like the original Smith gauge and retail for $260.
Included in the sale is a storage cover, new antenna, extra visor, tonneau cover, and tire jack with a lug wrench
Engine and transmission run very well and there are no oil leaks. Engine has just had a professional tune-up and all fluids have been changed. There is no insulation under the hood directly above the engine. All electrics are in working order.
