History:
This car was pulled out of a garage in North Phoenix 9 years ago. The 20 year owner had died and his widow (my mother-in-law's best friend) wanted the car restored for the family in his memory. The car had not been started for 10 years, yet within one hour my son and I had the cylinders lubed, changed the oil, put a temporary battery on board and started it up! We drove it around the block on the hand brake and she sounded sweet!

Betty, in honour of her owner, was then unceremoniously transported to Prescott, AZ where she was stripped to bare metal, and subjected to an extensive restoration. The ash frame was found to be very solid, the body panels had a little rust at the bottom of the doors, and the mechanics were solid but in need of restoration. The engine was established to have been rebuilt and has caused no problems. At a recent inspection she tested for uniform compression and passed the leak down test at 5%.
A small amount of rust at the bottom of the doors was removed and the panels and body was re-leaded where required.The doors were also coated internally with dinitrol, and the turn buckles adjusted for the initial fit.
The car was repainted by me and with support and elbow grease from my wife. We used a local paint booth and used a BASF 2 pack urethane with 4 coats of base coat and 4 coats of clear coat with hand rub downs between.The main body paint is Chrysler Cool Vanilla and easy to obtain touch up. The finish is admired by many and the car has won at local car shows.
In the restoration we restored the front and back suspensions and steering rack, new shocks, checked and resealed the rear axle, new wheel brake cylinders, new master cylinder (all Whitepost), new bulbs, lenses, sourced fog and driving lights, blasted and refinished the wheels, painted the chassis and engine compartment interior, etc. More recently a carb needle broke (luckily did not get to the engine) and we restored the carbs and put a new core in the radiator.
This car starts, runs and drives well. ...but is not for me as I am 6ft 3in tall, and according to my wife not very flexible, and so the car is not comfortable for long trips.
Hence as the PO family do not now want the car I am offering it for sale. We are looking for an owner who will treat Betty well, exercise regularly and gently, and appreciate her for who she is.
