You are viewing my 1978 Triumph Spitfire.
I am the second owner of the car. Originally purchased on Long Island just a
few towns from where I live now.
This car is truly for the
English car collector enthusiast. It has been garaged, properly maintained and
pampered for its entire life. I have owned this car for the past 3 years, it
has been insured with collector car status and used as a limited mileage weekend
beach trip car. A true time capsule, almost impossible to find these days.
The new owner of the car will
not be disappointed. This is an excellent true survivor example. Read on for a
more detailed description of the overall condition of the car. See the video
below for a test drive and walk-around.
The body is in bone stock
original condition. It has never been involved in any sort of accident. There
is no rust through on any part of the chassis or sheet metal structure, all the
body panels are exceptionally straight and are in perfect alignment. There are
very few blemishes from daily use such as parking dings and surface rust spots
from road paint chips. The Inca Yellow paint finish has a light patina in
spots, but it is all original and holds a nice shine.
The interior is in excellent
condition. There are no rips, open seams or tears on the seats or panels. The
original carpet is in excellent condition. The dash/instrument panel is
excellent, there are no sun stress cracks on the top surface of the dash panel.
All gauges are in excellent working condition. The convertible top is new this
year.
There are now 44, 780 genuine
original miles on the clock. The engine runs very strong and idles smoothly. Oil
pressure holds steady and high when fully warmed up. During my ownership, I
have done many tasteful mechanical upgrades to enhance the drivability
including, high compression pistons, re-worked head, perf cam, all new hydraulics
(brake& clutch), sport 2” exhaust, weber carburetor, aluminum radiator, too
many to list, I can email you the receipt log PDF for details of full
mechanical restoration.
The car runs and drives
exceptionally well. Suspension and steering are very solid with no rattles or
wheel shimmy. The 4 speed transmission engages smoothly and quietly in all
gears. The electric Overdrive works flawlessly. This is what sets this car
apart from all the other Spitfires listed on Ebay. Flip the overdrive switch on
the highway and cruise at 60mph @ under 3000rpm endlessly, while enjoying the
ride.
I have tried to include
as many pictures to depict the true condition of the car. Please e-mail if you
have specific questions. Please keep in mind that the car is 38 years old and
although excellent condition for its age, due to normal wear and tear, have
realistic expectations for a vehicle that been in service all these years.
This car is being offered with a very modest starting price. Please email
and I will promptly assist you with any questions you may have. Please read the
good and bad in the description above. I will make myself available
for anyone requesting a physical inspection
